Battling the Odds

(A “Notes to Self” Series)

Quote for Saturday, 2 March 2019

“I learned that the most unique thing that I had to offer was hope.”

― Annie Harris-Meachem, It’s Easier to Dance – Living Beyond Boundaries

I have had a sudden drift of thought recently, and I realised that there are heaps of books I’ve recently read that had an immense amount of gold nuggets of wisdom. One of those had been Annie’s memoir.

Annie was born with a motor-neuron disease that normally entails insufficient physiological and psychological developments that the rest of mankind normally would have. Her mum’s doctor already proclaimed her dead, but her mother was a fighter so she demanded her child to live. Annie indeed lived just like that. Unlike others who had her condition, her years had been more than what had been expected.

Indeed, hers is a story of breaking barriers, defying expectations, making the impossible happen, and turning miracles into a reality.

When others thought she can’t, she did.

If she could, she urges all of us that we can, too.

Check out my earlier blog for more details about her story and her memoir here.
