Saved by Books

(A Notes to Self Series)

Quote for Friday, 29 March 2019

“And books, they offer one hope — that a whole universe might open up from between the covers, and falling into that universe, one is saved.”

― by Anne Rice, Blackwood Farm

I love reading books. If there are no other responsibilities to lead a normal life, I would surely be by the beach reading more often than not. I think I may even be too bookish for my own good at times. Whereas I am supposed to be a HR professional – with qualifications, certifications, and numerous years of experience to boot – I still found myself indulging on my bibliophile tendencies more recently through my book reviews and involvement with the OnlineBookClub.org (OBC). I was even February 2019’s Member of the Month (yay!); see the post below:

I’ve also written a number of blogs about famous people who really see the value of books and the written word.

There’s also one book that I am sure fits this quote’s bill so perfectly plus heaps more than what was, is or could be expected. It’s the Holy Bible.

However, I do understand that we all have our varying individual circumstances and perspectives. I truly respect that fact.

What do you think? Do you agree with our featured quote? Could our circumstances really change for the better because of books? Could we have the chance to make things better for ourselves, our loved ones, or those who need such most through reading? How? What do you recommend? What worked for you?

Nonetheless, I’m still looking forward to knowing your thoughts.
