The Good Tears

(A “Notes to Self” Series)

Quote for Monday, 18 February 2019

“Tears shed for another person are not a sign of weakness. They are a sign of a pure heart.”

― José N. Harris, MI VIDA: A Story of Faith, Hope and Love

What triggers those tears really? Why do we cry? Is it just because we are weak or not strong enough? Is it because we are mentally unstable?

We all know that tears clean our eyes. That it is another biological thing that differentiates from inanimate objects. That it is an expression of our emotions, and they could be an expression of joy, happiness, grief or pain.

Our quote for the day is a reminder that our ability to feel emotions is what makes us human. Of course, there’s a need to be tough when challenges seem insurmountable, the odds appear unconquerable, and the destination is still not within the eyes’ grasp. The softness of heart when there’s a need for such though – especially in understanding and empathising with the plight of others – makes us more humane.

Kudos to all of you out there who love, care as well as initiate what needs to be done to help or perhaps just to make a kind gesture. Your being there in terms of one’s highs is good; uplifting one another, when times are rougher, is even better. Even a small act of compassion makes a difference. The world needs more people like you.

God bless, everyone.
